The club has been offered display space in the Museum of Welsh
Cricket at the SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff next summer. This is a great opportunity to showcase the long history of the
club and coincides with two international matches being played at the venue. If anyone has any items they think would be worth
putting into the display please let Dave Thomas or Andrew Black know.
The club has been awarded a substantial grant by the Heritage Lottery Fund to record its history since the Second World
War. This will use oral testimony, documentary research and the work of school children in building a picture of the club over the past 70
years. It builds on work already carried out by John Jones on the first 100 years of the club, from 1840 to 1940.

Montgomery Cricket ClubWelcome to the website of Montgomery Cricket Club - the club in the historic market town of Montgomery, Mid Wales. We are a long established club with roots in the first half of the nineteenth century, but we are also forward looking and have a strong and expanding youth section. In 2008 we became an England and Wales Cricket Board accredited club and since then we have been working on an ambitious development plan. This has enabled us to build an extension to our clubhouse, a two bay all weather net and purchase new ground maintenance equipment and pitch covers. Our two senior teams play in the Shropshire League and our youth section now includes Under 9, 11, 13 and 15 age groups. We also have a busy season of more relaxed Sunday fixtures and play throughout the winter in the Shropshire Indoor League. Cricket has been played on our home ground at Lymore since at least the 1840s. It is one of the best settings for cricket anywhere in the country and over the years it seen many memorable events - more can be found on the history page. The club is well supported by the town and we have a large number of sponsors. The Dragon Hotel became our main kit sponsor in May 2011 and also provide us with after-match refreshment on Saturday evenings. For a full list of our sponsors see our sponsors page. We always welcome new players and can accommodate a wide range of ages and abilities. If you would like to play, or become involved in other ways, please contact our secretary David Thomas (01686 668934). Even if you don’t want to play, please feel free to come along to just spectate during the summer - we are a very friendly club and always make visitors welcome.
